WE SUGGEST TO DON'T MISS THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:
CALENDIMAGGIO
Assisi May 3-5
It is perhaps one of the most spectacular folkloric expression. All the town is pervaded by a Medieval climate: exciting
beating flames, musics by lutes, pewter and Chiarini, flag wavers that with skill give exciting shows, challenges, tournament,
songs, processions with rich and decorated costumes; and finally it is proclaimed Madonna Primavera celebrated by all.
FESTIVAL OF MEDIEVAL CHARTERS
Fossato di Vico May 4-6
It is an exiting evocation of the life in the Middle Age as documented in the Fossato di Vico Medieval charters. Many figures
mentioned in these ancient documents are represented during the festival.
CERI RACE FESTIVAL
Gubbio May 15
It's one of the most unusual popular religious events in Italy. It is imbued with strong mystical emotion which fascinates the
public. The "Ceri" are three gigantic wooden structures weighing about 400 kilos each, surmounted by statues of St. Ubaldo, St.
Giorgio and St. Antonio. Youths carry them on their shoulders from the historic part of the town to the top of Mount Ingino, where
the basilica of the patron stands.
CROSSBOW PALIO
Gubbio May 27
This is a target shooting contest using medieval fixed crossbows. It is an ancient tradition in Gubbio documented since 1410.
The two most important Crossbow Societies, one of Gubbio and the other of San Sepolcro, for centuries are engaged in this sport.
The bowmen wear ancient historcal costumes. The show is followed by an exiting Flag-wavers exibition. At the end of the contest a
historical procession winds through the torch-lit streets.
QUINTANA TOURNAMENT
Foligno first 2 weeks of june
The celebration, dates back to the XVII century, is a challenge among ten knights (that represent the ten districts of Foligno)
that test their skill by attempting, at a gallop, to trasfix on their lances a series of ringswhich gradually become smaller and
smaller. The contest is highly spectacular and it will be held at night. On the eve of the challenge a procession of 600 people in
costume parades through the streets.
CORPUS CHRISTI FLORAL DECORATIONS
Spello June 9-10
The floral compositions, marveillouse works of art, represent liturgical figurations and ornamental motifs. Made with fresh
flowers in a single night, require weeks of work.
CORPUS CHRISTI
Orvieto June 10
In 1264 a Bohemian priest, saying Mass in Bolsena, had been to a miracle and saw blood flowing from the host staining the
corporal and liturgical cloth. Since then the precious ancient relic has been carried through the streets of the town with a
historical procession of 400 figurants in rich costumes that evoke the period in which Orvieto was a magnificent papal
see.
THE FAIR OF THE GAITE
Bevagna second half of June
This is a faithful evocation of daily life in the Middle Age. Along the streets of the lovely medieval town of Bevagna are
recreated the typical workshops, inns and markets of those times. Shows, concerts, exhibitions and conferences, togather with an
archery contest, concur in enlivening still further the animated evenings. Traditional craftwork is however the focal point of the
fair. In the cramped, dimly-lit workshops, skilled master-artisans devise exclusive objects using the original medieval
techniques.
UMBRIA JAZZ

Launched in 1973, today is one of the most important jazz music festival in the world. The event lasts ten days during which,

tastes of the public. During the Festival Perugia becomes a meeting point for tens of thousands music lovers, coming from all over
Italy, from Europe and the United States.
